Painter's Post is my small private teaching studio
overlooking the Fraser River. I teach regular classes in drawing
and oil painting. I have been fortunate in having some very
talented students over the years, three of whom are now teaching others
as well. I paint landscape, still life and other things as well,
but portraiture is my first love, (human and animal) therefore, you will
find people in most of my work even if it is not actually a portrait.

When I was researching unicorns for
this painting, I discovered that, according to ancient Greek and
Roman myths, the unicorn is NOT the pretty little white pony usually
depicted, but a full sized " horse" with a red head, blue eyes, a
tri colored horn, an antelope's hind legs and a lions tail.
I gave them the blue eyes, the tri
colored horn and red heads, but being a horse lover, and because it
was too much of a blow to my esthetic sensibility, I could not bring
myself to give them lions tails or antelopes hind legs.
